Light Flooding in OC

Newport Beach and Costa Mesa were spared major damage from last night’s rainfall as the atmospheric river that dampened Galentine’s Day plans rolled through Orange County. It appears that despite recent atmospheric events, many OC drivers still have no idea how to drive in the rain.

Those living in areas affected by recent wildfires were not so lucky. Orange County officials issued voluntary evacuation warnings effective Thursday for areas impacted by the fires, including Trabuco Canyon near the Airport Fire burn scar, due to concerns over potential flooding, landslides and debris flows from the ongoing storm. Residents are advised to prepare for possible road closures and to be ready for mandatory evacuation orders if conditions worsen. This precautionary measure came as Orange County braced for an atmospheric river that brought significant rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday, particularly affecting regions recently affected by wildfires.
