We've Got A Runner
OC Marathon in Newport Beach (and Costa Mesa, and Santa Ana, And Irvine) this Weekend

We are not marathon runners here at the Back Bay Buzz (unless running your mouth counts as cardio), but we respect the hustle of all the OC marathoners this weekend. Even if it turns an already hairy traffic & parking situation into a full blown hairball.

Songs in the Canyon Ft. Scarlet Bloom and Friends

It’s like Coachella, except you don’t need to sell a kidney for tickets.
COSTA MESA, CA — Songs in the Canyon, Costa Mesa’s beloved mini-music festival, returns to the lush grounds of Canyon Park this Sunday for an afternoon of live music, local art, and community connection. The event blends the charm of a neighborhood picnic with the vibrancy of a grassroots arts celebration—featuring local musicians, artisan crafters, and food vendors. The first festival is this Sunday, May 4th, while the second will be September 28th.
This year, Songs in the Canyon is taking a bold new step. A scripted film inspired by the festival is currently in production, capturing the energy of Westside Costa Mesa’s music scene and highlighting the talented performers who make the event special. Organizers are currently seeking sponsors and investors to help bring this unique project to life, supporting both the growing festival and the film that will share its spirit with a wider audience.
Whether you're a music lover, a community supporter, or a champion of local arts, Songs in the Canyon invites you to be part of the story—on the lawn, on screen, and in the heart of Costa Mesa.

📺️ WHAT TO WATCH 📺️
The series finale of YOU (Netflix) is finally over. Thank god. We can finally go on with our lives. We won’t give away the ending but it gets, um, dicey. More importantly, how are we supposed to act like everything is normal when a very important person had THAT happen to them in The Last of Us? Here is what we are watching this weekend to cleanse our palette:
The Four Seasons - middle aged couples find their center (Steve Carell? Will Forte? Tina Fay??) (Netflix)
Thunderbolts* - Not super. Not Heroes. Also, the asterisk is actually part of the title? (Theaters)
The Surfer - “You don’t live here, you don’t surf here”. Also NICOLAS CAGE. (Theaters)
Conan O'Brien: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. (Netflix)
100 Foot Wave season three - Even if you live there, you probably shouldn’t surf there… (HBO, Max)
The Kentucky Derby - Place your bets and enjoy a mint julep (NBC)
The Miami Grand Prix - This isn’t my first grand PRIXE, you know… (ESPN)
