Style Week Takes Over Fashion Island

Galas at the Island of Fashion, Wine Lab @ The Camp, volleyball pro tour, dogs at the library.

Hello Back Bay Bugbears, happy Monday.

It was a quiet weekend with the sharp drone of F-35 fighter jets notably absent from the airshow. It is not quite sweater weather, with the highs this week firmly in the mid 70s, but the water temp is dropping so it might be time to spring for a new full suit for those of us who aren’t cold plunging every morning. High fashion and Cinema are coming to Fashion Island, along with a bevy of other events coming later this month to kick off Autumn proper.

To our new readers—welcome! The Back Bay Buzz delivers just the right amount of news and events for locals in Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. No crime, no politics, no spam—just the good stuff. We scan newspapers, blogs, social media, business journals, and Google alerts so you don’t have to.

In today’s Buzz:

StyleWeek Comes to Fashion Island Oct 15th

“It smells rich in here…” - Joe Goldberg

StyleWeekOC® drops Oct 15–19 at Fashion Island, coinciding with the Newport Beach Film Festival. The events promise high-fashion moments you’ll actually use: Wednesday opens with a Neiman Marcus runway (benefiting CASA OC) and instant shop-the-look; Thursday goes late with the Taste of Style gala; Friday brings Bloomingdale’s Red Carpet Ready—a free beauty panel with hands-on glam (first-come seating). Saturday stacks the star power: Penn Badgley (You, Gossip Girl, Podcrushed) does an author talk at 11am ($20 ticket includes a signed Crushmore), followed by a free Ashley Park keynote at 1pm, the West Coast premiere of Akris — Fashion With a Heritage at THE LOT (3:30pm), plus shopping parties, spend-and-receive deals, live fashion hits, and fun in-store activations (flower crowns, aura photos, leather embossing). Sunday keeps it rolling with a Creed fragrance masterclass (1pm), an NBFF Celebrity Spotlight with Noah Schnapp (3pm), finale performances on Macy’s Lawn (noon & 2pm), and THE LOT’s Thom Browne: The Man Who Tailors Dreams (5:30pm). For out of towners: VEA Newport Beach has a Shop & Stay package (Oct 15–19): $100 Fashion Island gift card, two VIP tickets, a welcome gift, a personal-shopper consult (as available), and a $50 dining credit—book by Oct 12.
