Superbowl Sunday pulled a sneaky on us and came out of nowhere this year. Perhaps it was the 74 day long month of January or the new President or the roller coaster of a stock market or the fact that we are getting 6 more weeks of winter, but it just didn’t seem like Superbowl season until it was upon us.

Newport Beach Gets a New Police Chief

Dave Miner, a 22-year veteran of the Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD), has been named Chief of Police, City Manager Grace Leung announced on Feb. 5. Since joining NBPD in 2002, Miner has held various field and command-level roles, including deputy chief overseeing detective and patrol/traffic divisions, and has served as acting chief since Joe Cartwright’s December retirement. Leung praised him as a respected leader suited to guide the department through new crime-fighting technologies and quality-of-life initiatives. As NBPD’s 12th chief, he will lead 235 employees across five divisions. Miner holds a B.A. in political science and has completed advanced law enforcement training, in addition to extensive teeth whitening (allegedly) .

🐺 Where the Coyotes At?

A friend suggested that a funny way to bring attention to the BBB was to advertise a local coyote sightings map as this seems to be an ever present theme on NextDoor app. Since we already have running google map lists of the best family friendly restaurants, coffee shops, taco shops, and charitable restaurants, we thought why not actually make a real OC Coyote Sightings map? This map will be continuously updated with data from NextDoor posts as well as community contributions. If you or someone you love has been the victim of a coyote sighting, please fill out this form to add it to our map. This will enable us to pinpoint hotspots, identify seasonal migration trends and avoid unwanted interaction with our more vulnerable pets. Thanks Jordan!
