St. Paddy Drives the Snakes out of Newport

...And into Huntington.

In today’s Buzz:

  • Weekend Agenda

Let’s dig in!

Rain Shuts Down PCH in HB

Back Bay Buzz is currently hiring a graphic designer/cartographer…

The recent heavy rainfall absolutely dumped Wednesday night causing flood and landslide alerts all over OC. The coastal area between Seal and Huntington Beach was especially hard hit, causing PCH to be briefly shut down from Warner Ave to Seapoint on Thursday. While bad news for motorists, these are the perfect conditions for the nascent sport of e-bike-skimboard-waterskiing that i just made up.

🛹 Dickies Moves from DFW to CM

Dickie’s new digs: a match made in skater-boy heaven…

Oh how the turntables. Dickies (yes, that Dickies) is moving from the heart of Middle America (Fort Worth TX, where it was founded *checks notes* 103 years ago), to Costa Mesa Cali-for-ni-a. The corporate parent of Dickies and Vans, VF Corp (a name just dripping with youthful mystique), referred to the move in terms like ”Win-Win”, “culture fit” and “synergies”, but all we could think of is how funny that the most blue collar work-wear brand in America would make a SoCal beach town its new headquarters. Maybe it’s because trendy Gen Z kids *love* cosplaying as blue collar mechanics. Or, more likely that being close to the vibrant local skate scene will help shape youth trends. Whatever, we were wearing canvas jackets and camo hats way before it was cool (we were teased about it relentlessly).

☘️ All the Irish (and Irish Adjacent) Pubs Mapped

Its like a treasure map, but the treasure is a hangover.

As we head into a jolly St. Patrick’s Day weekend, we thought it would be helpful to create a map of all the most festive pubs in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. Whether you enjoy a healthier St. Paddy’s day celebration at the Camp, or letting it all hang out on the NB pub crawl, its certain to be a great weekend celebrating the Saint who drove the snakes from Ireland. We know that not all of the bars and restaurants on this list are technically “Irish”, however they are all joining in the Irish festivities for the weekend. Join us for a green beer or two at one (or all, depending on your grit and ambition) of the premier public houses in the best two cities in Orange County.
